Women's Sport Clubs
General Club Information:
The club was formed in the Spring of 2004 by Brittany Bettendorf who was a freshman at the time. Her goal in starting the team was to give skaters a chance to continue skating in college and to meet others who share a love of the sport.
The season runs from October through February. We practice twice a week on Sunday and Tuesday nights. Each practice consists of one hour of off-ice followed by one hour of on-ice work. Sunday practices from 8-10pm in Highland Park and Tuesday practice run from 9-11pm in Niles. We compete twice a year at local and sectional competitions. We rarely have to miss more than one day of classes to compete if we have to miss any class at all. We also host an exhibition in mid-February at the rink in Evanston so all our friends can come watch!
Our League affiliation is with United States Figure Skating in the Collegiate Open Division. We hold tryouts every fall during the first week of classes with club dues approximately $800 per year.
