Women's Sport Clubs
General Club Information:
About the Team: Northwestern plays in WCHL (Women's Central Hockey League) in the White division. We are required to play our division teams (Chicago Frozen Snappers Navy, Evanston Tigers White, Quad Cities Blue Liners, and the Flash) each twice. We are additionally required to play Notre Dame, a member of the Red division, twice. We will also play various other teams in exhibition games.
Games/Practices: The team will practice every Monday and alternating Thursdays. Towards the end of the season (February), practices will be held on every Thursdays as well. All home games and practices will be at Niles – Iceland where the team has a home rink status. We will play around 15 games this season, most of which will be played on various weekends, some on Thursdays in lieu of practices. As last year, we are planning to carpool to the rinks and drivers will be reimbursed for gas. You will receive an e-mail before every practice/game regarding pick-up information.
Away Trips: We will be traveling to Notre Dame and Quad Cities this year for away trips. Additionally, WCHL Playoffs will be held on March 7-9 in Madison, Wisconsin. Transportation will be rented by university vans and team members will be driving.
Dues : This year, dues will be around $375. We will let you know of exact amount soon and please bring a check payable to NU Women's Hockey to the practice on Oct. 15 th . If you are new this year, you are required to purchase NU uniform. As soon as our roster is finalized, we will be placing an order for jerseys and socks and we will let you know of the costs.
Transportation : Every eligible member of this team must be certified to drive university vans through the sport club department. You must take NU defensive driving class and pass the vehicle usage policies and procedures test. We will schedule an appointment for the class as a team and the test is administered on following days: Mondays 9-1, Wednesdays 9-3, Fridays 9-12 @ Patten Gym Rm. 102
Commitment: Your commitment to the team is absolutely critical and we expect you to show up every practice and to every game. Please note that participation in this team requires a lot of time, so please do not take the schedule lightly. If you are unable to make it to a practice or a game, you MUST e-mail both Lani and I at least 24 hours in advance. Attendance is mandatory for ALL practices, games, away trips and playoffs.
