Coed Sport Clubs
General Club Information:
President: Bryan Wynn mailto:b-wynn@northwestern.edu . History: Club was formed in 2006 with five members at the original meeting and two years later has upwards of 50 members and will continue to grow. As time has gone by the club has gotten more competitive and is looking for a top 25 finish at Collegiate Nationals this year. The club follows the model of a high school track team, welcoming everyone who is interested. Like a high school track team many members are new to the sport or simply participate to stay in shape. However, just like a high school track team we have a contingent that is very intense and races competitively. Practice schedule, competition schedule (or major yearly highlights): We have two certified coaches (one in triathlon, one in swimming) who takes us through 4 optional workouts a week while providing training plans for the rest of the days. The club subsidizes one race a year for each member. Beginners participate in a local sprint triathlon at the end of May while more advanced members participate in Collegiate Nationals in mid-April. We also compete over the summer in the MWCTC circuit where we placed 3rd out of 24 teams last season. League affiliation: Midwest Collegiate Triathlon Conference (MWCTC) Club dues (per quarter or per year): $80 per year Tryout schedule: No tryouts. People of all abilities levels are welcome, from those looking to get in better shape to those who are extremely competitive and looking to race or finish an Ironman. How often you compete or travel: We travel and compete in the late spring and summer quite often but most of it is not University sponsored Practice locations / home game/competition locations: Most practices are at SPAC. Primarily competitions are close but small groups have completed races as far away as Alabama, Kansas, and Idaho.
