National Physical Fitness and Sports Month 2009

Shaping America’s Healthy Future!

The first wealth is health - Ralph Waldo Emerson

In honor of May being National Physical Fitness and Sports month, the Department of Athletics and Recreation is hosting a variety of special events for individuals of all fitness levels throughout the month.  Physical inactivity has been directly linked to many preventable chronic diseases.  The primary goal of the National Physical Fitness and Sports 2009 Celebration is to get as many individuals within the Northwestern University community to commit to 30 minutes of moderate physical activity at least 3 days each week to help prevent chronic disease and result in healthier longer lives.  Participation in this celebration will encourage individuals to develop lifelong habits of regular physical activity.

A special welcome is extended to the entire university community to participate in the National Physical Fitness and Sports 2009 celebration! We've planned a variety of events to help you evaluate and strengthen your commitment to leading a more active and healthy lifestyle.
